Symbolism, colors & shapes
In its fleshy and beautiful leaves, echeveria stores water as a supply for dry periods. Very handy for getting through a summer vacation, for example.
Large, small, grey-green, purple or reddish, smooth, hairy or fluffy: There are many different echeverias. But all fat plants have one thing in common, namely their juicy, fleshy leaves, which in echeverias are arranged in rosettes. Some species also bloom with yellow, orange or red flowers that stand above the plant. With this, Echeveria shows you: I like it here.
Origin
Echeveria stores water in its leaves, stems and roots, so the plant survives dry periods. This is also essential for survival if the grandparents come from the Mexican desert. In the desert, botanist Antansio Echeveria discovered the plant in the 19th century, which was also named after him. Echeveria, with its relaxed character, is now also a popular houseplant.
