There is only a legend that reports that the leaves of ficus were used to roll cigars.
Symbolism, colors & shapes
There are no myths or exciting stories to tell about Ficus lyrata. There is only a legend that reports that the leaves of ficus were used to roll cigars. But we like to give it another special meaning: It provides the final touch in your house so that you can relax and enjoy even more.
Origin
The ficus lyrata originally comes from the African rainforest from Liberia to Gabon. Only here does the overgrown form occur. Because it is only here that the wasp lives, which is crucial for the reproduction of the plant. The ficus has a very unusual pollination mechanism. Each ficus species has its own wasp, so to speak. The wasp lays eggs in the respective fig tree and the larvae develop in it. 50cm long leaves are no exception in this ficus. With their green, leathery and shiny leaf surface and bright leaf nerves, they are truly unmistakable. The nerves are embedded in the violin-shaped leaf.
